Day-Night Mode

Summary: The Virtual PBX® Has a Day/Night Mode for the Convenience of Company Callers.

Day-Mode Actions

The Day-Mode is the normal state of the Virtual PBX®. The company's Daytime Greeting is played, and all extensions and ACD queues (Sales, Support, etc.) ring as set up (Available/Unavailable, Logged-In/Logged-Out, etc).

Night-Mode Actions

The Night-Mode is for a business that is closed for the day. The Night-Mode Greeting is played, and it usually states the company business hours and the fact that they are closed.

Each company can design their own Night Greeting, but after the business hours the menus are usually very similar to the Day-Mode Menus. The major difference is that when a caller dials an extension, he automatically goes to Voice Mail. The extension owner is then paged that new Voice Mail has arrived; and if he wishes, he can immediately return the call to the customer (using the automatic call-back with the caller's stored number, if desired).

If no Night Greeting is placed on the Virtual PBX® system, the Day Greeting is played when the system is in Night Mode; but all calls still go to Voice Mail.

Switching Between Day and Night Mode

The switch from Day to Night Mode and back can only be done by a System Administrator.

Switch to "Night Mode": Call in to the VirtualPBX; and when it answers enter "#Extension#Password#2412".

Switch to "Day Mode": Call in to the VirtualPBX; and when it answers enter "#Extension#Password#2411".

Using the Shortcuts to Make the Day/Night Switch Faster and Easier

See the tutorial SHORTCUTS in Managing the Virtual PBX® for a description setting up a quasi-automatic Day/Night switch.

If the System Administrator has a cell phone which he always keeps in his possession (to protect the password), the end of the SHORTCUTS tutorial describes doing the switch in a very fast way with a cell phone.
