What is Dynamic Caller ID?

Dynamic Caller ID allows you to automatically adjust the outgoing Caller ID number based on specific rules, such as the number dialed or feature codes. This feature is useful for businesses needing their outgoing Caller ID to reflect different locations or departments. Please note, that only the Caller ID number will be adjustedβ€”Caller ID names is not supported with this feature.


Setting Up Dynamic Caller ID Rules

Follow these steps to configure Dynamic Caller ID rules on your phone system:

Step 1: Log in and Access Dynamic Caller ID Settings

  1. Log in to your phone system's admin portal.
  1. Navigate to the Settings section.
  1. Under the Voice Apps tab, select Dynamic Caller ID.

  • Click Create New Rule.

  • Name the rule appropriately to reflect its purpose (e.g., "Local Area Code Rule").

Step 3: Select a Caller ID to Display

  • Choose a number for the outgoing Caller ID:
    • Spare numbers: Available but not currently in use.
    • Numbers in use: Active numbers within your account.
    • Select a new phone number to add to your account if needed.

Step 4: Choose the Trigger for the Caller ID Rule

You can select from the following options:

  • Use Caller ID when Feature Code Dialed Matches:
    • Enter a Feature Code starting with * that is not already in use.
    • Example: Dialing *213 could trigger this rule to display the designated Caller ID.

  • Use Caller ID when Area Code Dialed Matches:
    • Select this option to trigger the rule based on specific area codes.
    • Example: Calls to area code (213) will display the selected Caller ID.
